The Best Weekend Ever… and Here’s Why
I had the best weekend ever because all I did was clean my home and office!
Now, that may not be an ideal weekend for some of you, but for me, it was therapeutic.
Please, let me explain!
I’m not a neat freak, nor am I OCD when it comes to everything being in its proper place.
However, this past weekend, I decided it was time to get my space in order.
And no—it wasn’t just spring cleaning. When my friend asked what I’d call it, I said:
“Scratching My Roots.”
A Deeper Kind of Cleaning
It’s Like Shampooing Your Soul
Nothing feels better than when someone else has their hands on your scalp shampooing your hair.
You almost go mindless. There’s nothing to worry about, and a deep peace settles in.
It feels like God is whispering love notes in your ear.
When you shampoo your own hair, it’s just another task. But when someone else does it,
you can simply relax in the experience.
That’s exactly what cleaning my home and office felt like—
like getting my roots scratched.
Letting Go of the Past (Literally)
The Power of the Shred
For the first time in a long time, I felt free to throw things away instead of just reorganizing them.
And in the process, I realized a few powerful truths:
-
I was holding on to my past through junk papers.
-
These papers were crowding my life—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
-
They had to go.
So I created a massive pile—not to be trashed, but to be shredded.
Why shredded? Because I didn’t want to just discard the past—I wanted to destroy it.
Shredding the Good and the Bad
Yes, even the good memories had to go.
Because while some of those meetings and experiences were positive, they were wrapped up in toxic relationships.
And I didn’t want to give myself another excuse to hold on to anything that no longer served me.
With every shredded piece of paper, I was also shredding:
-
Old doubts
-
Lingering questions
-
Unnecessary baggage
-
And yes, outdated versions of myself
You Can’t Move Forward While Carrying the Clutter
These papers represented years of meetings where I wondered:
-
Do I matter to the people in this room?
-
Am I making a difference?
-
Is my voice even heard?
I held on to those feelings for far too long.
But I finally realized—those moments no longer define me.
Most of the topics in those papers are irrelevant now, and many of the people in those rooms are no longer in my life.
And if they are, we’ll build new and better memories moving forward.
Make Room for Your Growth
This process was incredibly freeing.
For the first time in years, I no longer have those thoughts crowding my mind.
I’m focused, clear, and ready to grow my business and nurture my family.
Challenge: Scratch Your Roots
So to every entrepreneur, employer, and employee reading this:
Take some time this month to Scratch Your Roots.
Clear your physical space.
